Measuring a Wooden Bed
*Always use a tape measure with a rigid edge for accurate measurement.
Measuring the Width
If your bed has wood blocks at the end of the sideboards, measure between them at both the head and the foot, then take the narrowest figure and subtract for 1/2” to 1” for clearance. If you don’t have blocks, measure at the head, middle, and foot, and then subtract 1” for clearance.

Measuring the Length
Measure the length on both sides, usually the length of the side boards, and take the shorter measurement of the two. Then allow 1 1/2” to 2” for clearance for bedspreads/comforters to have room to drop down. If your mattress needs to be notched, around a post for example or like the Lentini mattress to the right, we would appreciate your sending us a photo or a drawing. For rounded corners, make a template of the exact curve and mail it to us.

Measuring the Height
Measure from the top of the slats, L-b rackets, etc., to where you want the mattress to come on the headboard, usually where the ornamental part begins. This is your Total Set Height. The height of your bed is very important in determining which mattresses will fit. It is always helpful if you email us pictures of your bed.
Also, measure the height from the floor to the top of the slats/L-brackets.
